Founded in 2017, the Environmental Protection Network (EPN) brings together over 700 former EPA career staff and political appointees—spanning Democratic and Republican administrations—to protect human health and the environment. Over the past eight years, EPN has built a dedicated staff and bipartisan volunteer network focused on strengthening environmental agencies and the communities they serve in the face of urgent crises like climate change and environmental injustice.

Given the current administration’s efforts to systematically dismantle the very agency responsible for safeguarding public health and the environment, EPN is uniquely positioned to confront these challenges because it is led by those who know EPA best—scientists, lawyers, and policy experts who have dedicated their careers to this mission. Today, EPN is working to expose the polluter-driven agenda behind attacks on environmental safeguards; defend EPA policies, funding, and staffing; provide critical technical assistance to vulnerable communities, including safeguarding federal funding; and mobilize a broad coalition to fight back. These strategic priorities guide their efforts to protect public health, uphold vital regulations, elevate community voices, and ensure EPA remains equipped to fulfill its mission.
