Juan Jhong Chung (he/they/she)

Juan (he/they/she) is a queer immigrant, born in Peru, of Indigenous Quechua Chanka, Cantonese Chinese, and Hakka ancestry. They are passionate about creating ecological futures that center the lived experiences and traditional knowledge of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color as well as other marginalized groups around the globe. Juan lives in Detroit, Michigan, where he organizes for systems change through radical solidarity. They serve as Climate Justice Director for the Michigan Environmental Justice Coalition, where they support the coalition with policy analysis, legislative advocacy, community planning and equity, and provide expertise in emerging climate and energy technologies. They hold dual masters degrees from the School of Environment and Sustainability and the Urban and Regional Planning Program at the University of Michigan.
