Alison Coffey is a Senior Policy Analyst at the Initiative for Energy Justice. Alison brings a decade of experience designing and conducting research on the climate crisis with frontline communities, centering the needs of grassroots partners organizing for climate, economic, and racial justice. She holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Texas at Austin, where her research focused on the social and political consequences of climate-driven displacement and experiences of housing insecurity in communities affected by wildfire. Previously, as a Research Associate at the MIT Community Innovators Lab, she led participatory research collaborations with community leaders, building more equitable and democratic economic systems in the U.S. Northeast, Gulf South, and Latin America. Alison holds a Masters in City Planning from MIT and a B.A. from Tufts University. She is based in Austin, TX.
